At just 25 years old, Queen, a determined young mother from Katutura, Windhoek, has already faced more than her fair share of challenges. Living in an overcrowded home with her grandmother and raising her young son alone, she was forced to drop out of school in Grade 10 due to pregnancy and financial strain.
But Queen refused to let her circumstances define her future. She joined the Lidar Community Foundation’s six-week skills training program, where she gained practical knowledge, attended SRHR workshops, and most importantly, regained the self-confidence she had lost.
Through Lidar’s job placement efforts, Queen secured employment as a cashier at Shoprite Katutura, where she now proudly works in her uniform, serving her community with a smile.
“I’m grateful to Lidar for believing in me and giving me the tools and chance to rebuild my life. I can now support my child and contribute to my family’s well-being.”
Queen’s journey shows how the right support system — one that empowers without judgment — can transform lives. She stands today not just as a cashier, but as a beacon of resilience, moving forward with purpose, hope, and plans for a better future.
