LONG TERM PLANS
>>>
Long term goals
Our long-term vision is to secure land from the City of Windhoek, where we plan to build a larger facility to accommodate our growing number of participants and offer even more extensive services. The new center would include:
- A comprehensive training centre for vocational programs,
- A shelter for homeless young mothers and their babies,
- A daycare facility and afternoon care center for children,
- Office space for administrative operations,
- A community soup kitchen, and
- A business hub to support young mothers’ income-generating activities.
Additionally, we aim to expand our services to regions beyond Khomas, where we currently operate. This will include setting up programs in regions like Zambezi, Oshikoto, Erongo, and Omaheke to reach more vulnerable women in need of support and skills training.
We provide lifeskills and tools for a better future
Through our center, we assist young mothers by offering skills training, job placements, and foundational education in crucial areas such as Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness, conflict management, and mental health support. Additionally, we address immediate, everyday needs—such as basic supplies for mothers and their children—as they prepare to enter the workforce
Strategic Importance and Community Impact
Lidar Community Foundation is strategically positioned within the community, serving as a bridge between young mothers in need and the tools necessary to transform their lives. We have built a strong reputation for resilience and adaptability, successfully sustaining our programs year after year, despite financial constraints. Our center is not only a resource for education and job readiness but also a beacon of hope and empowerment for young mothers striving for a better future. We are proud to have developed employment partnerships with several local businesses, including Gondwana Lodges, which has employed numerous women trained at Lidar. Many other companies also prioritize hiring our graduates, further enhancing our impact in the lives of young mothers across the region.
